Our Purpose
The Foundation for Civilian Bravery was established in 1993 to recognise and honour Sri Lankan civilians who, without obligation, place themselves in grave danger to save the life of another person in peril.
Our mission is to ensure that these selfless acts of heroism are never forgotten and that their legacy inspires future generations throughout Sri Lanka and beyond.
The Foundation for Civilian Bravery is dedicated to give public recognition to acts of bravery of civilians by making awards to those who risk their own lives to save or attempt to save the lives of others.
Foundation for Civilian Bravery (FCB) in Sri Lanka was officially established and incorporated by a Parliament Act, specifically the Foundation for Civilian Bravery (Incorporation) Act, No. 4 of 2009, which turned the existing 1993 foundation into a legally recognized body to honor civilians who risk their lives to save others.
